A successful leader, Bob Neff, now in Heaven listed 7 characteristics of good leaders. Here are 2. ‘Listen carefully to the thoughts of your team. Try to assist them in accomplishing their dreams, as long as it’s in the parameters of your organizations objectives. “Dreams.” Not a word we see in leadership manuals. But they are motivational and satisfying in the process before that dream is achieved.
Listening takes personal time, and shows that you care about them. Bob helped them paint their homes, move stuff on moving days, even building decks. Result. That leader knows the personal struggles of their team. No silos. Jesus cooked fish with his team and walked with them. He served them in their world. Being a part of daily necessities even struggles shows they are important to you.
