Hattie McCoy 3

What is abundant living?  What counts?  Hatie McCoy, my grandmother died at age 97 leaving a legacy on a few pages of the highlights of her life.  125 items, mostly grueling hard work.  A woman who did every task a man would do.  Her only acknowledgement of notice was that she ‘market gardened’ and won many ribbons and prizes at farmers institutes.

An unremarkable resume.  Yet amazing.  Psalm 49 reminds us to not be overawed when folks grow rich with splendid houses, because none of us take anything with us when we die.  I am overawed that she listed her work, hard, not noteworthy or applauded, and titled it.  The Abundant Life of Hatie McCoy.  No accumulated wealth, no accolades, humble, abundant. Read her story on our website.
