Harvest Time

September in America’s heartland means harvest.  Huge corn harvesters move through fields in clouds of dust.  Plump ears of corn fill silos, then trucks or train cars ready for their next purpose whether energy for people or cars.  Real tomatoes, zucchini, squash, and pumpkins–their colors so beautiful that we want to just look and enjoy.

But we can’t sit back and just look.  Harvest time is a short window of opportunity.

More precious than all this produce are people.  Jesus saw them.  They needed to know Him.  That was their purpose.  His followers needed to be about harvesting–telling them the gospel.

How long will the harvest time last? I know America’s heartland will be covered with snow.  Also, some hearts will grow hard.  Our moment to be about God’s harvest is now.
