Give me your heart

To whom have you given your heart? Love songs declare that it be to another person, one who excites you, charms you, offers something you need. Some parents give their heart to their children needing their confirmation of worth based on their parenting. Some give their heart to their work or any means of gaining power.
God says in Proverbs 18: 1, My son, my daughter, give me your heart.
The heart is fickle. Even a Christ follower can believe they have given their heart to God. But consider, what breaks your heart? What is your source of contentment? An ignored special day that family does not acknowledge?
Giving your heart to God first brings contentment in God alone. Family relationship disappointments? Cling to God for comfort.
