Generosity
January 21, 2022
Do you ever feel that what you give is small compared to the resources others give? I certainly do. That tempts me to shrink in generosity, believing I don’t make a difference. Jesus says otherwise. Mark 12: 41–43 is one of his teachable moments with his followers. Offerings of the rich were visibly watched. “But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins worth only a few cents.” Jesus told his disciples, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others.’
We don’t know her name. Her shoulders may have been sagging and her clothing worn. But she is famous through the ages for her generosity.
Her action that Jesus’ highlighted is worthy of us following her example.
