Friendships 2
January 22, 2026
Investing in friendships requires emotion, time, effort, and energy. Consider David and Jonathan in Scripture. Unlikely as Jonathan’s father, King Saul attempted to murder David. Their friendship, at times, had to be hidden, but their mutual love and protection of each other was precious to both.
Consider Mary and Elizabeth. Both pregnant in miraculous ways. Ways no others could understand; might even condemn. Surely their friendship continued as their children grew though Scripture does not record it. Jesus and his disciples were an unlikely group of friends. Take note. Friendship need not meet others criterion for you or be understood by others.
What matters? Agape love, looking out for that friend, no matter the consequences. No matter the cost.
