Friends

Folks who go through loss and unwanted change find their friendship network shifting and usually shrinking.  Many emails to our ministry are from folks struggling to make sense of it–and usually the exit of friends just doesn’t make sense.  We may never know the why of it all.

John 6 starts with Jesus being followed by crowds of thousands, then shrinking to hundreds.  Finally, He asks his 12 closest traveling companions, “You do not want to leave to, do you?”  People’s motives for being around Jesus were different.

This is true for us.  People are in our lives for a reason, often one we don’t see or will never know.  Then the facts change and they are gone.

Jesus comforts us. And God comforts us with these words, Deuteronomy 31: 6.  ‘I will never leave you.’
