Equality

Disruptions offer us an opportunity to examine what’s going right and what’s going wrong. While most might be looking at work, income, and economics, let’s look at another issue bubbling to the surface. Equality. I’m pondering equal opportunity.
Consider these statistics. Of 23 white baby boys born, 1 will be arrested. 1 of 3 black baby boys born will be arrested. What implications does that have for their work opportunities, educational opportunities? Those are just 2 areas of impact.
One county predicts its future prison population by the percentage of third graders who are below reading levels.
While these are challenging areas to consider, Christ followers should be leading the discussions and seeking solutions. That each person is created in God’s image means we can not look away.
