Easy answers/Torah Matt 27

Don’t you love easy answers?  You’re almost there.  Two blocks, turn right. Just an infection.  Here’s a  prescription. You’ve got the job.  You’re a great match.  Start tomorrow.

In the first century, rabbis wanted to simplify the rules in the Bible.  No wonder!  There were 613 prohibitions and 248 commandments. One asked a learned master, “Tell me the Torah as I stand on one foot.”  In other words, condense it into a few minutes.

Jesus did better, He condensed it into 3 sentences. Matthew 22: 37—40 ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.

Loving God is the easier part.  Loving my neighbors?  I’m working on that.
