Discouraged in our country

I’ve stated to many that I don’t recognize my country today.  Given a New Testament in my public 3rd grade class, each town minister invited to pray in our school, tolerance and inclusion of ministers of differing beliefs.   These do not happen today.

Yet, I am encouraged that the Bill of Rights includes the right to gather as believers, different as we might be.  We are still free to practice our faith without fear.

Is that eroding? Yes. Are places of worship attacked? Occasionally.  Consider Christians in Jesus day.  Jews were hated by the Romans, taxed without representation.  Christians in the New Testament often met in fear.

Presidents are still sworn in placing a hand on the Bible.  Let’s not only pray for God’s protection, but act in boldness while we still can.  We’re to be those points of light, stars in a dark world.
