Deborah’s Song

The prophetess Deborah judged her people fairly. She also spoke God’s instructions boldly. God told her to tell their military leader to go out against the enemy. He would only go if she went with them. “Certainly, I will go with you,” She did not help lead the army because she was trained to. She led in obedience to God knowing He equipped her in the past and would in battle.
Note her song in Judges 5. She praises the Lord, gives credit to the Lord. She praises the willing volunteers. ‘My heart is with Israel’s princes, with the willing volunteers among the people.’ Victory from God, credit to God. Her people had peace for 40 years. An example for us all.
