Danger Of Traditions

December for many of us is a season of traditions. Ours have included stockings for everyone filled with small and goofy things. Junior apple pancakes Christmas morning because it was my husband, Bob’s favorite. We have a long list of what we do and how we do it.
I was recently challenged with the thought that our traditions were overshadowing the real meaning of Christmas: celebrating the birth of Jesus. We’re pushing the pause and delete button. We’ll be reading more Scripture. We’ll be sharing why Jesus was important then, and today in our lives. We’ll be focusing less on gift giving and more on what the gift of Jesus means to each of us personally.
More important than the What, is the Why.
