Bathsheba

Bathsheba’s widow story is one of betrayal, violent death, and more.  Her king, David, required that she do his bidding as a woman married to Uriah.   I fictionalize her story in Not Alone.

Walk with me as two of the Kings men escort me to an obscure entrance to his palace.  My husband, my King’s elite mercenary soldier, Uriah, is on the front lines of the battlefield.  This escort makes no sense.  Curiosity in my soul is crowded out.  Dread grips my mind and then wraps its tentacles around my heart.  I am Bathsheba.

Bathsheba had every human reason to turn from God, hate David, and live in isolation the rest of her life.  But she submitted herself to God, and her son was in the lineage of Jesus.
