Adopted children

May I introduce you to surprising group of people who may dread Mother’s Day?  Adopted children.  How do I know.  I’m Mom and Nana to a few.

One Mother’s day I heard weeping.  I asked my precious young adult son, “Why?”

“Does she remember me?  Does she even know I exist?”  “Oh, sweetheart, on this day she could never forget you.”  I tried to comfort not knowing how. I realized my words could never reach his hurting heart or fill a void I did not create.

“Oh, dear son of mine, I pray for her and give thanks for her.  She gave me you.  I can’t imagine my life without you in it.”

Sunshine and Mom’s home cooking seemed to make the day better.

Are there any adopted folks in your life?  Give them an extra hug today.
