Does Church Matter

Church sure has changed.  From the wooden pew I sat on with six other little girls, sisters, and cousins, eating crackers to keep us quiet, to the multisite church where I worship today, one question is always relevant: Does church matter?

My young relative after church one day stated, ‘I feel like I’ve been to an organization.’  Some focus on teaching and mentoring future pastors.  A good thing but not our primary call to make disciples.  That’s for everyone, not just a chosen few.

How easy to lean to the desires of a few leaders, a popular new model of worship to fill seats.

Does church matter? Our world is dark; our light is dim. What hope is there for our nation, our communities, our families?  It’s time to keep first things first.  Committed to discipleship.  Jesus first.
