Thanksgiving Words

In this Thanksgiving season, more important than the menu of food is the menu of conversation.  All manner of folks collect, some that would prefer not to be there, and others who don’t want to see them either.  But tradition prevails.

I’m preparing by feasting on what Scripture says about words.  James 3: 2–10.  This tiny bit of muscle pacts more power than months, even years of action.  All the more reason to guard our words carefully.   Often, we know the hot topics that bring strife or hurt.  Pray fervently, even plan a phrase that would be appropriate and as kind as possible.

‘I hear you.  That matters.  I’ll give it some thought.’

‘I’ll pass on that for now, maybe a conversation for another time.’

Pray for God to guard and bless our conversations.
