Paul’s Leadership 1

True leaders are revealed in crisis.  Leaders in title only misstep, misspeak, mislead to the detriment of all who follow.  The true leader may have no title or position.  Yet in crisis, that person emerges.

The apostle Paul is a supreme example.  In Acts 27 Paul was a prisoner guarded by a centurion on a ship bound ultimately for Rome.  Going was slow and rough.  Paul advised the centurion at one point not to sail, that all would be lost except for the people.  The centurion disregarded Paul and listened instead to the pilot and boat owner.

Paul’s word came true.  The ship was in trouble destined to sink.  Now he spoke to the people. The centurion was now ready to listen to the real leader.  The one who spoke truth.  Leadership shining in crisis.
