Refuge 1

Chaotic stuff in our lives often has us wishing for a place to hide, to be protected, safe from the mess around us. Leaving a courtroom, sad outcome, a doctor’s office, bad news, a relationship gone sour. The reasons are endless. We hunger for a place of refuge. 107 verses in Scripture speak of a condition of being safe, sheltered from pursuit, danger, or trouble.
Young widowed Ruth took refuge in God, converted from her pagan roots in Moab. Ruth 2: 12 David repeatedly found refuge in God when enemies surrounded him, his friends abandoned him, and his family tricked him.
Often the analogy is that of hiding under the wings of one who can protect.
sometimes it’s behind a rock. In Old Testament times of war, rocks were protection, refuge. Jesus is OUR rock.
