Christ Follower – Farmer

How does a Christ follower live?  What should our life look like?  Paul describes this in his challenge to Timothy.  One example he uses is a hard-working farmer.  II Timothy 2 Growing up in a poor farm family, all sisters, no brothers, we girls worked. Not when we felt like it.  When the harvest is ready, you work long hours, until dark.  Cows needed to be milked morning and evening.  You plow looking ahead, not back.  Yes, there is a reward.  But it’s after the work.  You are dependent on God’s provision of sunshine and rain.  Often interdependence on other farmers is required.  After my father was run over by a tractor, neighbors lined our road to our fields, on their tractors with seed planters.  Our salvation that season.  Christ followers: team work and hard work.
