Comforting The Grieving

People say unwelcome, clueless ’stuff.’  We can easily ignore unwelcome words—unless we are grieving. Those words wound when we are fragile and hurting.

Friends, this is a time to be careful and gracious.  2 tips.  Don’t make assumptions.  What you think they need to hear may be far from comforting.  It’s not time to share your story, it’s time to listen to theirs.  Proverbs 12:25 Anxiety weighs down the heart, but a kind word cheers it up.  Preserve their dignity.  Ask if they’d like us to speak of their spouse or child.  It’s ok for them to express anger, cry, sob, or be silent. Proverbs 14:21 blessed is the one who is kind to the needy.  Just listen and accept where they are.
