Beauty From Disaster

Crater Lake in Oregon is the clearest, cleanest, deepest lake in our country.  There are no words to describe the change in its color as the sun magically repaints it throughout the day:  lavender, aqua, pale blue, royal to almost black.

What created this natural wonder?  Devastation–a volcano erupted blowing the top off a mountain leaving death in its wake.  The empty crater was lined with lava that would grow no plants and allow no streams from the outside into this gaping hole.  The mountain was so high that it rose above where the air was filled with impurities.  Result, no plant life falls in to pollute, no dirty rivers dump there.  The water is pure and beautiful.

I drank in its beauty and was reminded that God can make beauty from catastrophe.
