The Church

Reading I John we see that this tender Christ follower was burdened in his last days for US. He wanted us to know the marks of a true Christ follower, and what would happen in the hard days before Jesus returned again. Chapter 2: 19 he says that people will abandon the church community. In America today 70% state they are Christians. 30% attend church at least 1 time per month.
This wise old man banished to the island of Patmos remembered what he observed and recorded in John 6. Many followed Jesus for the goodies, miracles, the moment. Few stayed.
Church is a challenge. Imperfect people. Criticized from without, squabbling within. Yet it’s a place for accountability, learning, not a perfect place, but a good place to be.
