Persistence

In my quest to be more like Jesus this year, I’m pursuing persistence.  Jesus’ whole life moved purposefully forward though obstacles were aplenty.  A widow in Luke 18 is an example worthy of our study.  God’s instructions are that widows be given justice.  They are vulnerable and God says don’t mess with them.  The judge ignored her refusing to hear her case.  Had someone moved her boundary, taken her land, enslaved her children?  We don’t know.  Financially greedy folks do attempt to take advantage of widows.  I know that from experience.

This widow just kept showing up!  And the unjust judge kept ignoring her.  He admitted that he neither feared God nor cared what people thought.

Finally, he listened because he was annoyed.

Persistence, my friend.  For a just cause, don’t give up.
