Comfort

I’ve been reading through the books of the prophets in the Old Testament. I read of the devastation of God’s people, their fickle behavior, embracing gods they have created. God has been with them, rescued them, provided for them.  And they kick him out of their hearts, homes, and places of worship.

I pause, look up and sip my coffee.  One theme persists.  God never abandons His people.  Jesus, not by name, but certainly identifiable, shows up.

God’s people may be in a mess, rebellious, not looking very God-like.  Jesus does not need an army or angels to rescue them.

Where are we looking for solutions to our problems?  Why should He show up when we’re looking every place for solutions but to Him?

God we embrace YOU.  His arms are open.
