National debt

M A mark of being a human is the ability to learn from ones mistakes.  This is true of individuals, cities, states, and nations. But do we?

V Here’s an excerpt from a magazine 32 years ago.  “Americans are well aware of the improvident manner in which debt is being accumulated.  They know it is wrong as well as foolish.  As individuals they feel powerless to do anything.  As collective voters they are divided.  So the wrong is not righted.  The folly continues.  They are, in consequence, profoundly uneasy . . . “  written by Paul Johnson in 1989 for Forbes magazine.

M True today.  Our nation accumulates debt. Scripture says owe no one anything.  We may not change our nation.  But we need not follow that example
