Power Out

Chicago!  Power out again!  Pencil sharpener, computer, dish washer.  It gets worse.  Running water, even cold. Travels to villages in Africa, I realize I take so much for granted.

Our spiritual power supply is similar.  Taking for granted a Bible I can read daily, that book is closed.  ‘Me focused’ prayers.  God’s abundant power supply is reduced.  First to go, grace and mercy for others.  Next, self serving actions grow like ice around our soul.  The chill is gradual, hardly noticed.

There is no greater protection than regular opening, inhaling, embracing God’s word. 2 Corinthians 4:7  But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.

Simple prayers like ‘Help’ ‘I’m listening, Lord.’  Humbly admitting, “I need You, Lord.’  Power restored.
