New mercies
December 28, 2018
Have you ever had an early morning overwhelming sense of awe and thanksgiving for the day? My morning fresh coffee aroma, dew on my garden making plants sparkle like diamonds, the warmth of a fuzzy robe. This is all nothing compared to the fact that God has a bundle of new mercies for me for the day. If I look at someone in judgement, he’ll mercifully remind me of my imperfections and his forgiveness. If I answer sharply, he’ll prompt me to ask forgiveness opening the flood gates for his mercy for me, and relief and freedom for the person I snapped at.
Pause and name the mercies you need every day. My tongue, judging mind, stubborn expectations, wanting more, tempting to be greedy, if not for me, for my family members. My list is endless. So is his mercy.
