Couples challenges # 3

M  I’m Miriam  Neff-with STARTING OVER FINANCIALLY,-and I’m Valerie Neff Hogan, and we’re here to talk about money.

M Couples who manage their finances successfully make compromises.  We don’t like that word.  But its necessary.  Starting the conversation with, ‘what are you willing to give up,’ is a non starter.

V Praying together is a good start.  “We want to honor you, Lord.”  “We want to do this together.”  We know its all yours anyway.  Help us to steward your blessings together.”  Pray first and then pick good times to talk.  Fatigued and hungry?  Never a good time.  You might even limit the time spent in the early stages of discussion.

M  Time to think after sharing ideas is always a good idea.  Giving up, ‘how I was taught,’ or not, takes time for recognition and time for change.
