Days after Christmas

It’s over.  The rush is past.  The return lines are long.  Black coffee instead of eggnog.  Salads instead of rich sauces.  What difference did our whirlwind  Christmas make?  An important one.  We still had some freedoms to acknowledge the birth of our Savior.  All carols have not been banned, nativity scenes can still be purchased, churches can still openly present Christmas cantatas and the Alleluia Chorus is still sung.

We may not always have these freedoms.  In some countries, celebrating Jesus results in being disowned or even killed.

So don’t regret the energies you spent.  Thank God for the freedom to do so.  Evaluate.  What  had meaning?  What did you give that you are grateful to have given? What will you do differently next year?

Meanwhile, pray that we CAN celebrate next Christmas.
