The value of listening

Our struggle to grow well as a Christ follower is personal as well as organizational. Faith based organizations such as the church struggle. Paul’s letters to both churches and individuals are worthy of our study to grow well.
I’m impressed by the personal references he makes to long lists of individuals. A couple who mentored and taught him as they made tents. Co workers, friends, supporters, people who opposed him. Collectively, they shaped Paul. He listened to them, leaned in to them for support and encouragement, and lifted them as well.
Organizations, including churches do well to listen: to those they serve and those who support and enable them to do what they do. Its not just about growth, its about healthy, sustainable, God honoring practices. Listen and learn.
