Speaking truth

In any relationship, there is occasion for many times of forgiveness for small things, and at least a few instances where forgiveness for large offenses is necessary.   Mark Twain’s words relate.  Forgiveness is the fragrance that the flower leaves on the heel of the one who crushed it.

Yes, I have been forgiven large offenses in relationships precious to me.  Based on that reality my capacity to forgive others not only grows, but is a requirement of me growing as a Christ follower.

What if the Apostle Paul in his last days in prison had dwelt on all the wrongs inflicted on him?  Instead he wrote letters of encouragement, direction, and challenge that changed the world.

Forgiveness opens the door for cleansing.  We all need that.
