Seeing yourself as small

Self perception for the Christ follower is an oxymoron.  We are prized, treasured, and created by God.  Yet we are human, small, insignificant.

God mightily used people in Scripture who perceived themselves as small.  When Saul was to be considered as king, he hid rather than step forward seeing himself as inadequate for the task.  Later the prophet Samuel reminded King Saul that God used him when he was small in his own eyes.

Moses believed he was incapable of leading his people out of Egypt.  God had to show him miracles to convince him it was not Moses who was capable but God would make him able.

Humility reconciles our insignificance and great value.  Humility signals God that we are fully available and fully dependent on him.
