New year, New feelings

Not all of our feelings about this new year are hope and positive new beginnings. Fear threatens our soul as we read of terrorists both abroad and in our country. Fear is an immobilizing emotion. Fear taunts us to stay home, withdraw, attempt to control our circumstances. Not behavior that testifies to our faith in God. Our pastor recently addressed why Christians are fearful. Colin Smith identified that self exultation has crept into our Christian belief system. God determines birth, defines gender, marriage, and death. Humans are putting themselves in the place of God–attempting to control what He controls.
Impossible. Our attempts are futile. 2 Timothy 1: 7 is the solution. God gives us the Spirit of His power. Our lives are in His hands.
