Give me your heart # 2

Christ followers are admonished in Proverbs 18: 1 to give God their heart. God never takes a persons heart. We have the choice to give or withhold this powerful director of our lives. Our mind, our emotions are ours to give or withhold.
Love songs encourage giving our hearts to a person, usually for self satisfying and self serving reasons. Or because the want it so badly and have something we want in return. People disappoint, break our hearts.
Relationship or marital break up? Certainly death of a loved one feels heart breaking. Consider this. What does your contentment ride on? That answer reveals to whom you have given your heart. God protects, heals, guides and comforts, but only if we have chosen to give our hearts to him.
