Feeding widows

Acts 5 tells about a dispute that arose in the new church.  They were feeding many widows–a good thing.  But favoritism crept in and some were given more than others.  Imagine the witness to the unbelievers in Jerusalem.  Widows were marginalized more so then than they are today.  Imagine if the church had ignored that favoritism?

But they did not.  They got it right.  Yes, fairness for the widows matters.  But so does our witness.

As we go global training poor young widows in skills, others look on.  Our selection guide.  Are you a widow, are you poor?  Not, what is your faith, nationality, or race.

My prayer is that when folks look on at what we are doing, they see the heart of God.
