Family! Our greatest source of satisfaction and pain. The only families that seem spared difficulties are probably those who are good at secret keeping. I can relate to occasional chaos, moments of unbelievable reconciliation, and rifts that can’t heal.
My friend, Sandy, reminded me of Scripture that I needed to hear today.
Proverbs 18:24b ‘but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.’ Makes you think about friendships and siblings. Joseph’s brothers sold him in to slavery. And in Matthew 13:57 Jesus said, ‘only in his hometown and in his own house is a prophet without honor.’ Jesus had problems at home too. We are messy (sinful) people who love and are loved by messy people. I find comfort in Gods word. Real people.
